The Pooler Catholic Community is a young and vibrant community of faithful currently operating as a “worship site” in the Diocese of Savannah. Led by our Pastor, Fr. Thomas J. Murphy, the “PCC” was founded on May 2, 2015 with our first Mass being held in humble beginnings in a rented space at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church. Bishop Gregory John Hartmayer responded to the call of the people of Pooler, Georgia to “test the waters” in the growing city of Pooler, GA and allowed the celebration of Mass in the community in West Chatham County, less than ten miles from the heart of Savannah, Georgia.
Within six months of its inception, Bishop Hartmayer visited the congregation, announcing the Pooler Catholic Community would begin work to build a new church. The news led to church plans being contracted and the people of Pooler establishing a building fund to make the dream of a Catholic Church in the City of Pooler, GA a reality. Land on Benton Blvd., previously purchased by the Diocese of Savannah, was established as the new location for the westside church. The church continues to work to make this dream a reality. Currently, a building drive is in its infancy and the people of the PCC continue to donate to a fund for the new church.
