SD Gunner Fund PARTNERS WITH NATIONAL SPAY ALLIANCE SAVANNAH & SAVANNAH KENNEL CLUB TO PROVIDE FREE VETERINARY CARE FOR MILITARY AND FIRST RESPONDERS
On December 5, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the SD Gunner Fund has partnered with the Savannah Kennel Club and the National Spay Alliance Savannah and will be holding a “Vets for Heroes” veterinary clinic in Savannah, Georgia. Military and First Responders are invited to bring their pets (limited to dogs and cats only) to the National Spay Alliance Savannah clinic for basic preventive care.
The event will be held at the new National Spay Alliance office, located at 11 Gateway Blvd S in Savannah, and is being sponsored by the Teresa Cowart Real Estate Team. Veterinary professionals will be on hand to provide a variety of free services. There will also be a variety of pet friendly vendors as well.
“We are really excited about the December 5th clinic as we have gotten so many requests from our hero community,” says Britnee Kinard, founder of SD Gunner Fund. “This is going to be a rewarding day for everyone, and we hope to see many people stop by to check it out and support what we are doing.”
The vet clinic event will be providing pets with free wellness exams, vaccines, micro-chipping, heartworm and FeLV/FIV testing and more to individuals that qualify. Patrons will also be able to schedule any surgical needs, including spays and neuters, at a later date but free of charge thanks to grant funding. Additionally, there will be professional dog trainers on hand to offer advice or assistance.
The Vets for Heroes clinic’s mission is to help both military and first responders be able to care for their pets. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are 4 million veterans who have a service-connected disability, which is one that was a result of a disease or injury incurred or aggravated during active duty military service.
“The veterinary clinic helps us further expand our mission to provide assistance to heroes in need,” explained Pam Pierce, National Spay Alliance Savannah. “We are just getting started with it and can already tell it’s going to be a great service that is provided to an amazing group of people.”
